Review Of Kinect Disney Land Adventures

Kinect Disney Land Adventures is a new title for the Xbox 360 on Kinect that is aimed at children of all ages. It takes Disneyland and virtualizes it faithfully in full 3D on Xbox 360. There are a wide number of rides and attractions in the game that both kids and adults will enjoy. The Kinect is used for body motion tracking, allowing your kids to sway, jump, and move their way throughout the game.

How does it look?

The presentation is very nice and colorful as you would expect from a kid’s title. The amount of detail they have put into the park and the tourists is amazing. In fact, you hear bits of conversation from tourists as you walk around. Disney characters are present in full 3D glory; they are voiced and animated in great detail, making them wonderful to see and interact with.

The game is technically proficient, but there are some minor pop-ins and the frame rate goes down sometimes. They are minor, however, and do not affect the game-play adversely.

How does it play?

The basic concept of the game is to walk around Disneyland and go on rides. These rides are mini-games that range from on-rails shooters to follow-the-leader games. There are lots of attractions, some of which include Mickey’s Parade, Big Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Princess Fantasy Faire, Peter Pan, and more. They are all faithful recreations of real-life Disneyland attractions that have been turned into mini-games.

There are shops in each attraction where you can buy hats, clothes, costumes, and more for your character. Customization is key in this game, and your kids will love all the options that are available. No two characters will look the same.

You do not just go around and customize yourself. There are quests that are given by Disney characters, including Mickey, Alice, and Buzz Lightyear. It is an excellent way to go around the world and experience all the attractions and the characters that inhabit them. There are nearly a hundred quests that you can take on in your free time.

Does the Kinect work well?

This is a game that is exclusively controlled by the Kinect. They have put a lot of thought into it, it seems, as the controls are fast and responsive. It may take a bit of practice at first, but it comes naturally once you get used to it. Physical actions include pointing your arm straight out to walk, move arm to rotate or turn shoulders, etc. It may bring about a bit of fatigue, so rest is necessary if you have been playing for a long time. Voice recognition is also present in the game. It is used for most selections and works very well when it recognizes your voice.

Is it worth it?

If you have children who are into Disney characters then this is a definite must-buy. The game offers an excellent virtual recreation of Disneyland along with its colorful characters. Its controls are fast and responsive, graphics is nice and colorful, and game-play is fun and bountiful. It is definitely for kids, but adults can join in on the fun as well. Definitely worth it if you are looking for a good time that the whole family can take part in.
